Social media forums should never replace good old phone communication. I'll even give you texting before I give you Facebook. If you have deicded to not call me for a day but have decided to instead post a comment to my Facebook wall, I'm calling that a cop out.
Yesterday was the first day in about a month that Buddy and I did not talk. Let me tell you why. I went out to CT again this weekend (more on that later...). I left Queens on Friday night and spent the night out there. I left at 5:00 the next day to go have dinner at Benihanna with some friends. Buddy was supposed to come but had forgotten that he and his brother were taking his mom out to dinner. (I know...sounds fake...but she was on speaker phone in the car...it's legit). After dinner, I came home and went on the computer. That STUPID site, okcupid.com, shows you the last time someone has logged in. And guess what? About 5 MINUTES after I had left his place, he logged on. Jersey says I should not jump to conclusions...and I'm trying really hard not to. It could be anything. He could have just been checking his email...whatever. However, I just find the whole situation odd. To top it off then, I don't hear from his AT ALL yesterday. Agan, making the insecure feel even more insecure... Today however, he took it upon himself to post something to my Facebook for all the world to see. It was nothing significant...but I just find the entire thing a little off. My mother thinks he has done this because he is "playing the same game" that I am. Not wanting to come off like a crazy person. She says Facebook is a public forum where he can post something and see if anyone else posts stuff. Like maybe he thinks I'm seeing other people. Who knows.
I would be ok with my mom's above scenario if the night before we hadn't had a mini relationship talk. It went something like this:
Queens: So I like you and I'm just wondering if you think this is going somewhere.
Buddy: Well, I don't date someone if I don't see if going anywhere and I'm obviously inviting you to my place every weekend so of course I see if going somewhere. I'm pretty nobel like that.
Queens: Ok, well, that's good...cause I'm not seeing anyone else.
Buddy: I'm not seeing anyone else either.
So....yeah...... I kinda put it out there. Did I scare him off or something? Who knows. What I do know though is that a Facebook communication will and does not take the place of something REAL.
